Transportation: Building Roads That Work for People

Traffic shouldn’t control our lives, but for too many in our county, long commutes and daily congestion have become the norm. The problem isn’t just bad luck—it’s the direct result of poorly planned development that has flooded our roads without building the infrastructure to support it. Families deserve safe, reliable, and efficient roads that reflect the realities of growth, not the shortcuts of politicians and developers.

The Strain on Our Roads

When developers add thousands of new homes without ensuring proper road expansion, the result is gridlock. Commuters spend countless hours sitting in traffic. Parents are late picking up their kids. Businesses lose productivity as employees struggle with daily delays. Worse, emergency vehicles face longer response times when roads are clogged. The quality of life for everyone in the county suffers.

Legislation like HB 765 threatens to worsen this strain. By limiting local government’s ability to enforce meaningful development standards—such as requiring sidewalks, street designs, or even traffic impact studies—these laws make it harder to plan roads and transit systems that meet actual community needs. And SB 314, by weakening extraterritorial jurisdiction, could allow development just outside city limits with little oversight, creating new traffic bottlenecks and infrastructure gaps. Ray Daly opposes both bills for these reasons.

Ray Daly’s Plan for Smarter Transportation

Ray Daly knows that a strong county requires a strong transportation system. His plan emphasizes building infrastructure designed for the future, not just patching what we have today. Roads and bridges must be modernized, intersections redesigned for safety, and traffic signals updated to manage flow efficiently.

Ray also understands that balanced growth is key. He will push for policies that require infrastructure to be in place before new developments move forward. By connecting planning and transportation, we can ensure that roads are not overwhelmed by unchecked expansion. This approach saves taxpayers money in the long run and creates safer, smoother commutes for families.

A Safer, Smoother Future

We cannot pave our way out of every problem, but with leadership focused on smart planning, we can build a transportation system that works for the people who live here. Ray Daly will fight for safe, efficient roads and a long-term strategy that puts families, workers, and businesses first.
